Skatkis Lap started as a small quilting business in 2013 but has soon grown into a well established brand name in the quilting industry.
Skatkis Lap is the Afrikaans name for “a chest full of fabric treasures”. We believe a quilt is a treasure with a story embedded in every stitch and needs to be preserved for future generations. Every quilt is a work of art, made with love for a loved one and is handed over from one generation to the next.
Our aim at Skatkis Lap Quilt Shop is to keep patchwork and quilting as a form of art, alive and growing. To achieve this, we teach young quilters the art, support and motivate the regular quilters and learn from the experienced teachers.
Our Quilt Shop in Port Elizabeth only sells the best quality cotton quilt fabric, thread and other quilting accessories and our two well equipped class rooms has soon became a popular gathering spot for smaller quilting groups. Our regular classes that we offer seat up to 15 students per class.
All of the above, plus the fact that we are a registered PFAFF sewing machine dealer and accredited PFAFF service agent, makes Skatkis Lap a true “Treasure Chest” in Port Elizabeth.
